Honour Guard in the Paint of Zhang Yi-chao’s Army Procession:Discussion on Honour Guard Systems in Tang Dynasty
Abstract
The local history is the main subject of Zhang yi-chao’s army procession in the cave 156 in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. The mural presents the great achievements of Zhang as a Head governor of Guiyi army, it’s an expression of the independence of the Guiyi army government. At the same time, by the analysis of the mural we can also study the honour guard systems of the Tang dynasty and the relationships between the Guiyi army and the Tang central government.
